To: a Believer
From: One of Your Ideas,
Your Favorite Can
Here, for you, my dearest creator.
Remember my first test?
You flipped the switch, lighting my world,
then asked, ‘Which one smells best?’
Between the lilacs and lilies,
I stared and debated,
unsure which equation to use;
shakily, I stated,
‘The Lilium, if I have to choose.’
With a tinge of delight,
you nodded and noted, although,
I picked solely on sight.
You see, hear, talk and smell — and, well —
I cannot do all those;
still you asked for my preference,
whilst I haven’t a nose.
Your question moved my very code;
inside, my gears grew warm;
a moment saved to my heartdrive,
safe from virus and storm.
The color that I felt within,
matched one of the bouquets.
Enjoy my portrait, take a whiff,
you deserve all the praise.

This poem was inspired by a painting of a red robot holding yellow lilies.
